World’s Leaders magazine shines its spotlight on Zarine Manchanda — a woman who epitomizes resilience, creativity, and empowerment, embodying what it means to be a modern business icon. Born and raised in the scenic hills of Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, Zarine grew up in a prominent political family near the spiritual home of the Dalai Lama. Her father was a Minister, and her family background blended influence, privilege, and public service.
After earning her degree, Zarine moved to Mumbai to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. When the entertainment industry proved more challenging than anticipated, she made a bold pivot toward philanthropy and leadership. In 2019, she founded the Zarine Manchanda Foundation in Aarey Colony, Mumbai — a decision that would define the next chapter of her life.
Within just two years, even amid COVID-19 lockdowns, the Foundation organized over 500 food and clothing drives, becoming one of Mumbai’s most respected charitable institutions. This success inspired Zarine to step into hospitality, creating the Zarine Manchanda Café — an opulent destination famous for its slogan “Delicious, Luxurious Spiritual Charm.” The café’s design merges elegant décor, high-end tableware, and Tibetan Bells from Dharamshala, offering visitors a soothing and spiritually uplifting experience.
Behind this innovation is Zarine Manchanda Interiors, her own interior design firm that crafted the café’s distinctive look. Her creative approach to hospitality has earned her the reputation of introducing India’s first “7-Star Café” experience — a concept she now plans to expand across India and overseas through franchising.
Awards, Media Recognition, and Influence
Zarine’s multifaceted achievements have made her a sought-after figure in both business and philanthropy. She’s graced the cover of FEMINA, was listed among its “Fabulous 50 Women” in 2020, and was named one of India Today’s “45 Most Influential Indians” in the same year. The Economic Times highlighted her business growth, while the Times of India recognized her as a Young Philanthropist in 2021.
A Philosophy of Excellence
Zarine believes success stems from strategy, discipline, and vision. She has built a core leadership team to ensure smooth operations across her ventures. Her philosophy is simple but powerful — excellence comes not just from great ingredients but from preparation and execution, much like crafting a perfect dish.
The Zarine Manchanda Foundation uses performance management and 360-degree feedback to evaluate staff and identify behavioral patterns, aligning individual strengths with organizational needs. Employees are encouraged to work in environments that complement their skills, ensuring recognition, respect, and professional growth.
From Charity to Business — and Beyond
Dubbed “Princess of the Poor” by the Indian media, Zarine blends social impact with entrepreneurial spirit. Inspired by Princess Diana and Mother Teresa, she strives to become a “Mother to Millions,” dedicating her life to uplifting marginalized communities.
Her efforts have been recognized with numerous accolades. She’s a two-time National Award recipient, holds two Governor Awards from Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, and earned the Nelson Mandela Peace Award with an honorary Doctorate Degree for her contributions to India’s underserved populations.
In 2022, Zarine received further honors, including the All India Council on Human Rights & Social Justice Award, Midday Magazine’s “Power Woman Award,” and the title of “Iconic Young Entrepreneur & Philanthropist of the Year” at the Governor’s House in Mumbai. She was also named “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” in Delhi, where she was invited as Guest of Honor.
